In the Tarot, the death card looks dark and foreboding. In movies people shudder and gasp when the death card is drawn. In my studies of the Tarot I learned of the death card as something to welcome and embrace. Though it may be the end of one thing, it brings about re-birth and transformation. As my schooling at LMU comes to an end, and with my move into a new house, I am going through this transitional movement where one thing ends, and so many other aspects open up to me. Join me for some exciting events in the coming months, for my new Gentle Flow & Therapeutics class, or even for some deeper or therapeutic one-on-one time. Any time we go through transition it can be scary and seem foreboding like the draw of the death card in a spooky movie. Let your Yoga practice help you through any fear, and into the beautiful transformation that awaits.

I am excited to announce the start of a new class I will be teaching from right here in my very own home Yoga studio.

The class is called Gentle Flow & Therapeutics. It will combine gentle flowing sequences, breath work, long held restorative poses, and visualization work to help you de-stress and help your body tap in to its natural healing abilities. This class is for anyone, new to Yoga, or an advanced practitioner, injured or fully healthy.

This month at LMU we studied Yoga and addiction. After the first few hours it became clear and evident that you can not cure addiction and the cycles of addiction with Yoga poses. The tools are much deeper and more subtle. Clarifying values, visualizing positive outcomes, etc. are powerful tools to use. These tools are an integral part of Yoga. It just reminds me how asana (Yoga poses) is just one tiny aspect of the practice of Yoga. As much as I love and respect Yoga Asana, it is not a cure-all. We spent an entire 11 hour Yoga Therapy weekend and did not talk about poses at all. It just goes to show how deep and rich the practice of Yoga can be. I am very excited to work more with the other tools of Yoga to help people on different and deeper levels.

This month we also graduated from Level 2 of LMU's Yoga Therapy RX program. It has been a long 2 years studying Yoga Therapy. I come out the other side with more knowledge about myself and about Yoga. I also come out with a new found respect for the therapeutic benefits both of asana practice, and of the many other facets and qualities of Yoga. Yoga is a rich and deep practice that helps us to heal, and to live our lives to the fullest. The more I learn the more I know I do not know and the more I want to learn and grow and practice! I am excited to start this next chapter of my life and my career post LMU and see what new things it has to bring!

Stay tuned next month for my last LMU blog . . . life after Yoga Therapy school . . . .
