Trevor Throop Yoga - January '12 Newsletter

In This Issue:

The Holidays are over, and the in-box is full. All of the tasks that we put off "until next year" now are meeting us face to face, and we have our new years goals and resolutions to work on as well. The new year, though a time of new beginnings and fresh energies, can also be a very stressful time. Luckily, stress is my specialty!! I love using the Yoga practice as a tool to help reduce stress, and prevent any stress related ailments that could come our way. When you feel that stress coming on, take a pause, take a breath, and let the stress begin to soften. If you are like me and the new year brings new stress, use your time in class as your special time to let the stress go.

Namaste

Upcoming 2012 Events!!!

I have a few events tentatively scheduled for 2012, and a few more on the way. Here is a list of what I am planning. Keep your eyes peeled, and I hope to see you in some of these workshops and events.

Yoga Therapy Workshop: The Low Back - Tentatively Scheduled for Sunday March 4th at The Jade Apple, I will be teaching a workshop on Yoga Therapy for low back pain and issues.

Yoga Therapy Workshop: Stress - Tentatively Scheduled for Sunday May 6th at The Jade Apple, I will be teaching about the stress response, how it affects our physiology and how Yoga can counteract its affects.

Yoga Day 2012 - Last year I hosted a day long Yoga retreat at my home. It was such a big success I am excited to bring it back this year! It will either be early or late summer, so keep your eyes peeled for the dates. Click Here for pictures of last year's event.

If you would like me to come teach a workshop to you at your work, home, or community let me know and I can definitely work those out too.

From My Study Desk

During my time in Loyola Marymount University's Yoga Therapy program we had to write a 10 page term paper. I chose to write mine on how stress relates to fibromyalgia and how using Yoga as part of a stress management program can aid in relief from fibromyalgia symptoms. I decided to finally post my term paper as an article on my website. Feel free to read it in part or in full. You can read about the physiological stress responses in the body, how they affect this disorder (which is similar to how it works in MANY ailments and illnesses out there), and see how Yoga helps reduce stress and thereby reduce symptoms. It was a lot of work to put it together, and I'm proud of the final result.

You can find my term paper on my website HERE.

De-Stress through Music

Music is something I love to incorporate in class. Music has been proven in many studies to have calming and healing effects. Here are some of my favorite relaxing songs to help you along your way to letting go of stress!

Sound of Invisible Waters - Deuter
Calling - Benjy Wertheimer & David Michael
Moonflower - Tom Rossi
Quietude -
